It’s the news of the week… and a HUGE milestone of the decade!
2 months ago, we had the preview of the power of the Webb telescope. And yesterday, we saw exactly *how* powerful it can be. NASA calls it “the deepest and sharpest infrared images of the distant universe to date”.
Webb started development in 2004. And making all the wait worth while, it is able to look into the very atmospheres of exoplanets - some of which are likely habitable. It will uncover more clues in our search for life outside of Earth! It will also allow us to look at every phase of cosmic history, including the first glows after the big bang that created our universe and the formation of the galaxies, stars and planets that fill it today ✨
🌱 TECH FOR SUSTAINABILITY‘Energy islands’ to power all of Denmark 🇩🇰
In their response to the Ukraine War, and mission to remove all Russian fossil fuel use, Denmark is introducing the world’s first 2 energy islands! ⚡️
The Danish Energy Agency says the islands will serve as hubs to connect wind turbines to electricity grids in the region. Together, the islands will be able to power at least 5 million European homes with the potential to expand to 10 million in the future.
One island will be based in the North Sea, producing 3GW of energy. The other will be constructed on the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, generating 2GW from offshore wind.
They were originally set to be operational by 2030, but they’re speedening up this process! They aren’t far either - considering Denmark already produces 48.6% of their total energy from wind power!
