💭 TECH FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Glasses that allow people who are deaf to have conversations on the phone 🕶
Technology and entrepreneurs fixing one global problem at a time ⚡️ British startup XRAI Glass has released smart AR glasses that features pioneering software to help hundreds of millions of people who are deaf or have hearing loss.
Their tagline says it all - Life. Subtitled. The phone-tethered, AR glasses reads speech in real-time through closed captioning. The software converts audio into a subtitled version of the conversation that shows on the user’s glasses! So far, it also has voice recognition capabilities to know who’s speaking, and will later be able to translate languages, accents and pitches.
🌱 TECH FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Europe's largest floating solar park in Portugal 🇵🇹
When you visit Portugal’s Algueva reservoir, check out the solar park they’ve recently built - floating in the artificial lake! You won’t miss it, it’s the size of 4 football fields with 12,000 solar panels 🤯
The country's main utility EDP had built it to cut reliance on imported fossil fuels. The panels would produce 7.5 gigawatt/hours (GWh) of electricity a year, and would be complemented by lithium batteries to store 2 GWh. That’s supplying 1,500 families with power, or 1/3 of the needs of nearby towns Moura and Portel!
