Happy Wednesday! ;)
In this week’s issue, we’re diving into the world of web 3 - breaking down a project we’ve been working on with MOGA, how you can easily build web 3 apps, the future of web 3 and its sustainability - and why you can expect us build more web 3 projects, we believe in this evolution!
Here’s what we’ve put together for your weekly Spark reads:

💙 NEWS FROM OUR MATES
MOGA launches free beta: feedback appreciated! 🎰
MOGA has been building a new casino experience with us for the past year and has launched their free beta - which you can sign up for and test their games here!
MOGA is a CryptoGambling platform, designed with new levels of transparency, game development, community sharing and overall new experiences in mind. As a web 3 company, MOGA is also releasing a utility token “MOGA Token”, backed up by StaySafu, The Secret Company and Web 3 Island to support its ecosystem.
Try it out, and let them know what you think on Discord!

💭 TECH FOOD FOR THOUGHT
How web 3 will reshape the world 💎
You’ll mostly see web 3 used for crypto nowadays, but the possibilities with decentralized networks go faaar beyond that.
The true idea of web 3 was to create an internet, that yes solves what web 2 couldn’t - like the centralization and lack of privacy, ownership and transparency of data - but mainly to enable more autonomous, intelligent and open browsing too. It’s being developed in a way that websites and apps can later easily integrate tech like machine learning, big data and decentralized ledger technology, to process information in smart, human-like ways (like Alexa does!).
Imagine this internet will accurately interpret what you input, and understand everything what you convey, be it through text, voice or other media. And one where all content you consume is more tailored to you than ever before!
🌱 TECH FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Ethereum to lessen energy consumption by 99.95% 💚
Annually, the carbon footprint of Ethereum transactions is comparable to the entire country of Norway (Woah!). And while web 3 doesn’t necessarily mean less energy consumption (all those decentralized networks still rely on complex infrastructures!), Ethereum will soon change their consensus mechanisms to drop energy consumption by 99.95%!
Ethereum is a decentralized blockchain, meaning that instead of having an institution like a bank oversee and validate transactions, it’s handled by individual computers within a network.
How Ethereum transactions work now: “proof-of-work” (PoW) model
Computers solve extremely complex math problems to create new “blocks” and validate its transactions
The owner of the computers are rewarded in crypto for participating and validating (AKA mining), more competition
Whole process relies on computer power = energy
How Ethereum transactions will work to lessen energy consumption: “proof-of-stake” (PoS) model
Instead of contributing your computer power, you put up a portion of your own crypto (32 ETH) to create a “stake” in keeping the ledgers accurate
Validators are chosen at random to create blocks and are responsible for checking and confirming blocks they don't create, less competition
If you try to mess with Ethereum’s security, you lose your stake/crypto
Makes attacks less advantageous
Doesn’t completely rely on computer power
💥 WHAT’S ON @ SPARKMATE
Taking opportunities in web 3 ⚡️
Decentralization, privacy, ownership and transparency of data? 99.95% less energy consumption? Encourages websites and apps that puts users first, and boosted with tech like machine learning and big data that can paves the way for more curated yet secure experiences?
These are all the evolutions of the internet, and part of Technology that we needed to see - to have a better, sustainable tomorrow, and a more innovative one. All the reasons why we’ve gone full speed on web 3 projects, here’s a few we wanted to share with you!
If you’re working on any web 3 projects, let us know if you’d like a shoutout in “News from our mates” - we’ll be happy to help or just share to inspire the limitless possibilities with web 3!
