💙 NEWS FROM OUR MATES
Transcribe (anything) with the new Happy Scribe ✍️
What do you use to transcribe videos, podcasts, team meetings (if not directly through Google Recordings), or add subtitles? If you ask us, our favorite would have to be Happy Scribe 💥 and, it’s even better with their new version!
Our mate André Bastié and his team has been working on new features, such as Shared Projects, better Team & Role Management (perfect for creative/content teams), Guest Invitation and an enhanced Search bar and Analytics tab. This, is on top of all the amazing features we already love like multiple language support, and the interactive editor so you can fix transcriptions while you listen in 🎧
🤸♀️ FUN PRODUCT WE LOVE
Grow communities with Mighty Networks 🕺🏼
One of the biggest tips you’d find as early stage founders is to start a community (from Day 0 ideally)! This community involves all the people that are passionate about the same thing or encounter the same problems you’re trying to solve.
Being able to connect these people together, including yourself, allows you to have an ear directly from potential users you could gain, talk about different perspectives of issues, and even test your product or get feedback.
For community building, we’ve been using Mighty Networks and it’s been working WONDERS. Here’s why:
Features:
👯♀️ Unlimited members, admins, and spaces.
🏠 Spaces for different communities. Including communities based on chat/feed/events/courses and other web pages. Fill them with posts, photos, videos, polls and even articles.
🎨 Custom branding on everything. Design your community and Spaces with their own branding, colors, logos, etc.
🚦 Great onboarding experiences. Mighty allows you to have customizable member welcome checklists, icebreaker questions, navigate on what’s around the community, and introduce themselves in posts.
📱 Upgrade to your own mobile apps & website. Their “Pro” version allows you to have your own mobile app and website on your own branding!
📖 Sell Courses, Community & Memberships. For your specialized offers.
📉 Mighty Insights. Analytics of your community to know what’s working and what’s not.
✉️ Automate email & CRM integrations. Connect your community to apps you’re already using, like Mailchimp, Hubspot, etc. to custom email onboarding flows, keep your CRM up to date and more.
Who it’s for: Companies who need to build communities and boost growth
Price: Pricing starts at US$39/month
PS: Want to see it in action? You’re welcome to join our Vault: Filled with resources like the Hardware Startup Playbook, Venture Building Playbook, perks to different software tools and service providers, and meet other like-minded entrepreneurs, engineers and investors!
💭 TECH FOOD FOR THOUGHT
CES2023 and its most coolest, weirdest gadgets 💡
The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2023 was held last week on Jan 5-8 - and it definitely showcased a bunch of different gadgets that either blew our minds, or humorously raised our eyebrows 😂
A few of those gadgets:
🚽 A toilet sensor by Withing to read your pee
🚙 Volkswagen’s electric, camouflage car that syncs with music
🛼 LG’s shoe-lockers with deodorizer to keep them smelling fresh
💈 Say goodbye to hair-dyes, and hello to hair color printers
🍳 Kitchen cutting board with built in screens
🚗 BMW’s color-changing car that has its own personality
🤖 Self-transforming Optimus Prime robot (it’s real now!)
🧽 This gel that hardens to be able to protect anything (like hammering your hand)
👃 This device that shoots smells to your face from movies and games
🌱 TECH FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Salt batteries with x4 more storage capacity 🔋
Most batteries are made with rare earth materials like lithium, graphite and cobalt. And to achieve climate neutrality, the EU alone would require x18 more lithium than it currently uses by 2030, and x60 more by 2050. At the same time, lithium extraction results in water shortages, biodiversity loss and soil degradation!
Researchers from the University of Sydney however, have created sodium batteries that dramatically reduces costs and provides x4 more storage capacity than traditional ones. They are molten salt batteries, that used to be an “inferior” alternative with short energy life cycles. But as researchers altered the electrodes to improve the reactivity of the sulphur, it’s making breakthrough news for renewable energy!
