💙 NEWS FROM OUR MATES
Supercharging your CRM through Linkedin with Folk 👯♀️
Our mates at Folk have introduced Folkx 2.0 - a revamped and improved version of their Chrome extension! (If you haven’t heard of them, Folk is a straight forward, no-bullshit CRM software - it’s our favorite CRM to date, it’s what we use!)
With their latest update, you can build lists of contacts directly from Linkedin and activate them in Folk! Their extension can now remain active while you navigate on Linkedin, so you don’t need to keep re-opening it. You can then easily add contacts to multiple groups from a contact page or a Linkedin search query. Here’s a video they made on how it works!

💭 TECH FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Training AI through how-to videos 🤯
OpenAI, an AI research organization founded by Elon Musk, has trained an AI to play Minecraft as well as humans - after watching 70,000 hours of YouTube videos. And it is beyond amazing!
It’s more than just learning how to play chess (which has been around for long! via “vs. Computer” mode), where there are strict rules and clear objectives. Minecraft is an open world full of objects you can manipulate a million different ways!
So like human players, the AI mimicked activities and learned to play on its own. Including chopping trees, collecting logs, and building crafting tables!
🌱 TECH FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Creating cement with algae 🏗
Did you know: Every year, around 2 gigatons of CO2 is released from the production and usage of cement. That’s 2,000,000,000,000 kg of CO2! 😰 Ranking 3rd amongst the biggest sources of industrial pollution.
Professor Wil Srubar from the University of Colorado Boulder found a solution when he went to Thailand in 2017. He noticed natural calcium carbonate (limestone) structures growing around coral reefs and asked “If nature can grow limestone, why can’t we?”
Since then, he’s been working with a team of researchers to develop carbon neutral methods to biologically grow limestone using algae. Even better news - the limestone is actually not only carbon neutral, but carbon negative as the algae also helps remove CO2 from the environment. Exciting news for sustainable construction!
