Which direction is this train moving - forwards or backwards?
Keep your answer in mind. Close your eyes for 2 seconds and ask your brain to move it in the opposite direction.
Did it work?
Crazy, right?
Our perceptions can be easily influenced by our brain. Same goes for decision making - it’s easily influenced by many other factors, it’s rarely just black or white.
This is where Decision Intelligence (DI) is being used to improve our decision making with machine learning algorithms. More about this below! 👇

💙 NEWS FROM OUR MATES
Learn the ins & outs of Web3 with Odyssey 🛰
Are you familiar with all the terms of Web3 yet? NFT’s, DeFi’s, DAO’s, ELI5?
If you’re not, don’t worry - in the US only 13% of consumers actually understand what Web3 is, with 54% saying they’ve never even heard of it before. Good thing we’ve got platforms like Odyssey that are on a mission to make Web3 accessible for all:
Odyssey is a learning DAO (Web3 communities that are collectively owned and managed by their members) where you can find extensive, clear guides on the world of Web3, from the very basics like what Blockchain is, to minting your own NFT’s and using+paying less gas, to staking cryptocurrencies and a glossary on all the slangs you’ll come across. They launched 6 months ago and are working on making everything more comprehensive, as well as expanding on the areas of Web3.

Bring team feedback management to a new level with Popwork 💬
You probably have 1-1’s or other feedback meetings with the team. You’ll know that as much as it is worth doing, it can also be time-consuming or ineffective if your insights get lost or aren’t documented well. This is where Popwork comes in:
Features:
Regular Check-ins. You can set the frequencies of how often to check-in with your mates, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, yearly, etc.
Focus on the right topics. The check-ins include your mates mood, priorities, achievements, challenges, and any other questions you want to ask.
Turn conversations to actionable tasks. You can quickly add tasks to each point discussed with your mate.
Follow ups on tasks. Automated and pushed to you when you need it.

💭 TECH FOOD FOR THOUGHT
WTF is Decision Intelligence? 🧠
Gartner forecasts that more than 33 percent of large organizations are going to have analysts who will practice decision intelligence by 2023 - it’s essentially a discipline for analyzing the chain of cause and effect, and decision modeling is a visual language for representing these chains to help us make more informed, calculated decisions.
How it works:
Observe. All decision models start with collecting relevant information - all the historical, transactional, sensory, behavioral, attitudinal, structured, unstructured, external or internal data of a business. Any piece of data can help reconstruct the outcome desired, and inform other impacted mechanics or improving processes.
Investigate. Through all the data, models can have a bigger understanding of a situation to construct possible actions.
Model. This means the generation of actions and alternative actions by considering business capabilities. The actions must explain casualties that lead to alternative scenarios for better forecast.
Contextualize. While considering the decision time, the model might even run out of options due to highly complex situations. This is where emerging techniques benefiting game theory methods, sophisticated system modeling, and dynamic collaboration methods help address blind spots of the model, and further refine it. The idea is to provide the decision-maker with a range of executable actions that can be implemented quickly!
Execution. By the end, the decision model chooses and takes a particular action. After execution, this part is also responsible for measuring the impact of the taken action to improve the model.
🌱 TECH FOR SUSTAINABILITY
World’s largest vertical farm is being built in the UK 🌾
Guess how big it is… It’s the size of 96 tennis courts (stacked on top of each other)!
In 2020, nearly half of all food consumed in the UK was brought in from overseas. To try and end the reliance of imported foods, Jones Food Company (JFC, where 1/3 of all retailers get their fresh basil from!) is building the world’s largest vertical farm in Lincolnshire, England.
The multi-million pound facility will have more than 13.5K sqm of growing space, where they’ve been experimenting with growing soft fruits, flowers and vegetables on a commercial scale. The vertical farm also uses a lot less fertilizers as it is recycled through the farm’s water system if the plants don’t absorb it. This makes innovative growing setups powered with 100% green energy, using 90% less water and reducing the air miles attached to our food. It’s set to open in Autumn this year!
